Our Philosophy
We recognize the need for our students to be critical thinkers, creative, adaptable, and information literate to be successful in the future. Charlotte Jewish Day School is committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment that will foster these objectives.
CJDS recognizes that each child is unique, bringing his or her own individual and special differences to the growth process. We believe in educating the whole child by meeting cognitive, social, emotional, creative, and physical needs using an individualized approach. Children master tasks at different paces and our teachers modify content, process, and product as appropriate for each child.
We support this individuality through small class sizes and a curriculum that is designed to accommodate different modes of learning through educational initiatives such as project-based learning, hands-on learning via MakerSpace, Hebrew language immersion, experiential learning through meaningful community engagement, as well as a social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum designed to help children develop the self-awareness, self-control, and interpersonal skills that are vital for school, work, and life success. Small student-teacher ratios allow our faculty and administration to closely gauge academic, social, and creative development. And with an eye on the individual student, we can see opportunities for growth even at the earliest stages, challenging each student at their level.
A comprehensive education extends beyond academic basics, and we understand that it is our job to give students a well-rounded educational experience that will allow them to be successful in all areas of their life.
