December 1-5

This week the students have barely been able to control their excitement because they presented their PBL projects to other classes in CJDS. They worked so hard with Mrs. Gamlin, Ms. Inna, Mrs. Lerner and Morah Donna! They were presented with their completed quilt today at the Shabbat Assembly. It is GORGEOUS and is already displayed on the 2nd floor near the balcony. Come up and take a look if you get a chance. I believe Morah Donna has a few pictures on her webpage as well.

Aside from the PBL excitement, in math we have been focusing our learning on measurement and time to the quarter hour. Students practiced using a straight edge to make lines and learned how to measure long and short objects using inches and centimeters.

Our spelling pattern this week focused on consonant blends at the beginning and end of words. Students our really doing great on their pre-tests which makes me so proud! They are really taking charge of their learning by using skills they’ve learned in class that help them decode unknown words.

Our reading strategy this week was focused on story structure and visualizing. Students listened to passages and expressed which words helped them create a clear picture in their mind.

They put on a short skit to help them better remember the order of events that happened in our weekly story, A Cupcake Party.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe weekend. Shabbat Sholom!
