Feb. 8-12
We have made it to the 100th day of school! It was so much fun today, watching the kids act like old people and laughing at each other dressed up. They did some fun 100th day activities like filling 100 boxes with letters in their name to make a pattern, coloring in a 100 grid chart, working with a group to see what they could build with 100 Legos, reading “words of wisdom” to the kindergartners, thinking what they will be like when they are 100 years old and estimating where they would end up after taking 100 steps. It was a fun day! I used an app called “Age Me” and I took pictures of the kids and “aged” them. The pictures are hilarious and a little creepy. But please enjoy!
This week the students also practiced the spelling pattern -ee and -ea. We talked about the long vowel sound and again how two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking and the second does the walking (which means we don’t hear it). We worked a little more on informational texts. Since we went on our Tu’ Bshvat field trip last Friday, we didn’t have time to take our “Let’s go to the Moon” Journeys assessment. We took that this week and discussed how to use pictures in an informational text to help better understand the story. There are only a few students left that are finishing up their animal stories. These are really awesome and will be up in the hallway on our bulletin board by the middle of next week. Please come up and take a look if you get a chance. ๐
To top off our exciting day we got to play in the snow during recess! It was a really great day. ๐
Have an excellent weekend. Think snow! I heard 5 inches in Charlotte on Monday, but we will see.
