February 3-7
What a treat it was to watch the NC Dance Theater come to our school this afternoon. The kids were very engaged in the performances and learned some new movements to express words. Ask your child if he/she remembers how to say “I want to dance with you” in “dance language”. This week the students took a lot of Mid-Year assessments. I am so proud of the growth I am seeing. The students have really made improvements in many areas. Today they worked on their writing assessments and they all chose topics that they were familiar with. That is a skill they have really been working on. We’ve talked about how to choose a topic that is important to you, as a writer. When the topic is meaningful, the writing is easier. I watched all students today take that concept and apply it to his/her writing. ๐ The students also finished their “Biography of a Classmate”. They learned how to generate questions for an interview then ask those questions to the person they will write about. The biographies are up on our bulletin board outside of the classroom. They are very cute. Please feel free to stop by and take a look. ๐
Next week we will celebrate the 100th day of school!! I can’t believe it’s been that long already. Looking forward to a fun celebration with the kids.
Have a fun and safe weekend. See you on Monday!
