Field Trip Next Friday!

Yesterday we learned all about Matzah, today we learned about Chametz.

We took our basket of play food out of the dramatic play center and sorted into Chametz foods, and Kasher L’Pesach.  We ran into trouble when we got to certain foods, such as brownies, pancakes, and even spaghetti!  Sure, in their conventional form these items are Chametz, but what if they’re made with matzah meal? or Potato starch?

How do we know at the grocery store which products are Kosher for Pesach?

We passed around some products that I borrowed from the CJDS storage room, and discovered that in addition to the Kosher symbols, the Pesach items had P or the words “Kosher for Passover” in English and/or HebrewIMG_0423

Next week, on Friday, April 8 we will go on a field trip to Harris Teeter at the Arboretum, where we will get a tour, and get a chance to look for Kosher and Kosher for Pesach symbols on the packages.

We plan on leaving CJDS at 9:40 on the CJDS bus, and we should be back at school by 11:15.  Please send your child to school dressed in a CJDS shirt.

Shabbat books are coming home today.  Add the title to your child’s book log.  Please return on Monday.
