First week of third grade!
Third graders are doing wonderfully in their new classroom and quickly mastering the routines and transitions. I learned a lot about each student through their presentations of the ME bag homework! We played fun games like Piggly Wiggly, Buzz and Padoodle. We’re trying out a week-long game starting today called Beat the Teacher. I’m sure you can guess the kids are psyched to try and win! Ask your child about details of the game.
Today we discussed picking books and the kids had time to explore the library. Each child picked two chapter books to keep in their desk for free reading time. We’re wrapping up beginning of year assessments this week and I can’t wait to delve into the Jacob’s Ladder curriculum.
I have now sent home two scholastic book order forms. These are completely optional. If you are interested in ordering books, you may do so online using the website and class code located at the top of the front page of the order form. You may also order them by filling out the form and sending a check to me, and I will order online. If you choose this option, please make checks payable to Scholastic Books and be sure to send in the form. Whenever you order books for your child, I earn points, which I use for ordering classroom library books that your child can read! It’s a win-win situation!
Thank you for sending in the parent surveys about your child. If you have not done so, please try and send it back to school this week. I love learning about your children and we’re having a blast so far in third grade!
