It’s October!!

I really cannot believe how quickly the time is passing by! At this rate it will be Thanksgiving before we know it.

This week the students were learning about text and graphic features while reading a story called Lucia’s Neighborhood. We talked about captions a few weeks ago and revisited that topic when we were discussing what a text feature is. Students used the captions to help them answer questions on their Journeys assessment.

Our vocabulary strategy focused on ABC order. We sorted popsicle sticks with sight words on them and we sorted our spelling words. The kids really understand how to do ABC order and some were even ready to sort words that started with the same letter!

Our grammar lessons were centered on adjectives. We played a game where I described something using only adjectives. The students needed to guess the noun based off of the adjectives I used to describe it. Any time I incorporate a game for learning, they thrive!! 🙂

Have a wonderful weekend. See you on Monday!
