Learning to introduce ourselves!

At first glance this video might not seem like much–basically taking attendance.  But please look more closely.  The students recognize their names and answer me appropriately.  They are using a “noun sentence”–this is a sentence with no verb.  In Hebrew we say “I in the classroom” and “I Morah Donna”.  They are also greeting their classmates and being answered appropriately.  This is Hebrew immersion in action.  I did not tell them  “you are going to use a noun sentence” or “ani bakitah” means “I am in the classroom”.  Through practice and using the words the students came to understand these valuable lessons.  As the year goes along this is where we will learn other ways to greet friends and family in Hebrew.  Hope you enjoy this 2 minute view of the classroom.

Have a great rest of the week and Shabbat Shalom.

Morah Donna
