March 23-27

This week our comprehension strategy reviewed Cause and Effect. The students are really starting to understand this and many of them did an excellent job on their Journeys test!! We read a folktale titled Little Rabbit’s Tale. I asked the class if they remembered what folktales are and many of them remembered. 🙂 A folktale is a story that was first told aloud and was retold for many years. They often teach a lesson. The lesson we learned from this story is to not always believe everything you hear. This brought up a conversation about gossip and the students were able to make connections about times they were a part of some gossip and how it affected them.

We also have spent a lot of time practicing for our play! It’s been a lot of hard work but they are SO excited to perform for all of you. 🙂 I got the chance to watch their weather presentations in PBL. They were awesome!! I know that Gale took some video so if she posts them to the website or Facebook you should definitely check it out. 🙂

Next week will be a shorter week so we will use that as a review week. We will revisit some of the more difficult concepts we’ve learned this year and our spelling words will be a mixture of patterns we have already studied.
