November 17-21

This week in first grade has been a week of review. We have reviewed digraphs and consonant blends. I introduced a new vowel pattern “Bossy R” and students went on a “Bossy R” hunt to look for words that have that pattern. In centers they practiced putting their high frequency words in ABC order and also using them in sentences. Students are focusing on what a complete sentence should look like; starting with a  capital and ending with appropriate punctuation. They also worked on their fluency by reading a story about Thanksgiving. In writing workshop they are finishing up their “What I will be like when I am 50 years old” stories. They know who they want to be and some of the stories are quite entertaining! When you come in for conferences, please take a look!  In math we are working with measurement and discussing different units of measure, such as inches and feet.

Today they dressed up as their favorite Torah characters and they looked amazing!

I hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend!

Shabbat Shalom and Happy Thanksgiving!
