October 12-16

This week our comprehension strategy was sequence of events. We practice reading a story and retelling it in sequential order. We discussed why the sequence is so important when understanding the story. Our vocabulary strategy was classifying and categorizing. We talked about words that describe time such as (today, now, hour, yesterday). The children read multiple words and categorized them into two groups; words that describe time and words that do not. Our writing this week focused on writing Thank You notes. Students learned about the parts of the note (Date, Greeting, Body, Closing and Signature). They practiced writing thank you notes to teachers, friends and family members. The grammar lesson focused on statements. Students learned that a statement tells something, starts with a capital letter and ends with a period.

See you next week!

Shabbat Shalom!
