September 16-18

It was a short week but a productive one! We had our second spelling test and I can tell that the students are getting used to the “hard work” in first grade. ๐Ÿ™‚ I am happy to hear at lunch the conversations that are going on. I hear students say “First grade is so hard but it’s so fun”. I am always so thrilled to hear that students are having FUN learning. Today we practiced spelling our spelling words using play-doh and Legos. Those are two easy items that can make studying fun at home as well. Next week we will continue with short i words since we will have another short week. Students will be tested on only six words again but they will still contain short i.

This week we also started our writing curriculum. We are focusing on ideas and how good writers write about what they know. Students made lists of topics they can write about and started their first narrative piece. We will continue to work on these stories and students will learn how to complete the editing and revising process in the coming days. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and don’t forget to watch our Panthers!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Shabbat Shalom!
