September 2-5
This week in math, the first graders were continuing to practice daily routines and using math materials. In their math centers the kids worked on forming, writing and spelling numbers 1-10. In first grade it is still developmental for children to reverse their numbers and letters which is why we work on mastering the correct formation of our numbers during centers. I like to incorporate a lot of movement and hands on activities for them to do this. They LOVED the Play-doh!
During our literacy centers we practiced partner reading from our Journeys book. Students really enjoyed getting to read with a buddy. We also started Journal Writing, just like our “Favorite First Grader”, Junie B. Jones. Students also practiced centers such as Sight Words, writing and reading. Next week we will practice the remaining centers; sight words, technology and word study.
This week in Project Based Learning the kids learned about internet safety and how to log on to their computers.
I hope you all have a nice weekend. Shabbat Shalom!
