Shabbat Books Came Home This Past Friday

This past Friday, we started our Shabbat book program.  The children chose a Judaica book from my library to take home and read over Shabbat.

We discussed how the books should be returned on Monday, and that it is NOT Imma or Aba’s job  to make sure the book is returned.  It is the children’s job to maker sure the book is in their backpack on Sunday night.

If your family is anything like mine, some weekends can be super busy, and other times we just forget…. No worries!  If you didn’t have a chance to read the book with your child over the weekend, feel free to keep it an extra day or two.

As long as the book is returned by the following Friday, your child will get to choose another book to take home.  If it is not returned by then, they will not be able to take another one, as my rule is only one book per child at a time.

This program is a great opportunity to teach the children responsibility, as it has a natural consequence and incentive built in.

I hope you enjoy reading the books as much as I enjoy lending them out!
