Tu Bishvat
This past Wednesday was Tu Bishvat – the Rosh Hashanah for trees. In Kitah Bet each student chose a tree to research. Each student wrote a book, all in Hebrew, of course about their tree. On Tu Bishvat the books were presented to the class. Today the books are coming home for you to see. Please send the book back to school so we can keep it with all our other Kitah Bet materials until the end of the school year. Accompanying the book is PARENT HOMEWORK – yes, you read that right! Please answer the questions on the sheet, you may ask your child for prompts.
On Tu Bishvat it is a custom to eat from the Shivat Haminim – the Seven Species that Eretz Yisrael is praised for. A verse in Deuteronomy compares man to the tree of a field. In our class the children were challenged to create a person with the fruits on their plate. Below you will see some creative results:
