I am excited to join the Charlotte Jewish Day School community as a teacher this fall. Teaching Science and Social Studies to 5th-8th graders is something I have loved doing in my 11 years of teaching, and I can’t wait to work with the amazing community at CJDS.
I hold an undergraduate degree in Geology from UNC Chapel Hill and a Master’s degree in Teaching from Boston University. I love teaching science and social studies and enjoy guiding students through explorations of how the world works and understanding the impact humans have on shaping it. Earth Science and US History hold a special place in my heart, but as a life long learner I love diving into new topics and curriculum.
Originally from Durham, NC, I have taught in various locations, including Massachusetts, Durham, and Charlotte. I value the diverse experiences these different environments have provided me and look forward to bringing this rich background to my new position. Throughout my years in education I have worked with 5th-8th graders and love teaching this age (I promise middle schoolers are great!)
Outside the classroom, I am a mom to my three children—Everett, Norah, and Zelda (who is at school next door at CJP!)—and enjoy spending time with my husband, Brian, our cat, Vivi, and our dog, Eclipse. In my free time, I love reading, being outdoors, and gardening.
I am enthusiastic about contributing to the vibrant community at Charlotte Jewish Day School and inspiring my students to explore and understand the world around them.
