Hello CJDS families! I am delighted to be teaching 5th-8th grade ELA this year, and I am looking forward to building connections within this amazing community.
After earning my bachelor’s degree in English from Wofford College, I then earned my master’s degree in Teaching Middle Level ELA from Converse University. Spartanburg, SC has been my home for the last 6 years, wherein I taught 8th grade. But now my new chapter begins in Charlotte, and I could not be more excited to start teaching at CJDS.
I grew up in Fort Mill, SC, and when I’m not at school, you can typically find me at the Greenway with my dog Heidi. I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors, and reading a good book!
My teaching philosophy revolves around creating an inclusive and supportive atmosphere where every student feels empowered to strive towards mastery. I believe in incorporating a variety of teaching methodologies to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, ensuring that each student receives the necessary tools to succeed. My endorsement in Gifted and Talented education also contributes greatly to my teaching practice.
My goal this year and every year is to instill in my students a habit of lifelong learning and a love for English.
