4th Grade General Studies

Hello CJDS families! I am so excited to join the team this year teaching 4th grade. I grew up in Michigan and received a B.A. in English and Humanities, and Post-B.A. certification in Education from Michigan State University. I have four years of teaching experience in elementary and middle schools. My husband, Ethan, and I moved to North Carolina in 2019 and quickly fell in love with the sunshine and mountains. We enjoy hiking and camping, playing board games, and reading on the couch with our dog and cat. We love to travel and explore new places; our biggest adventure so far was a nine week backpacking trip across Southeast Asia!

In my classroom, I aim to foster curiosity and a passion for learning. My role is to ask questions, and then guide and empower students to seek answers by developing their critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills. I love getting to know my students and growing a class community built on respect and a willingness to explore and take risks. I look forward to building a partnership with each of you as we work together this year!
