After School Clubs
Club Registration
Third Trimester 2024-2025
We offer clubs for Elementary and Middle School students. All clubs will take place at CJDS and participating students will be picked up by their club instructor after school. CJDS afterschool club is at 4:00pm. Pickup will take place in front of the school building. Please form a car line.
Transfers to J-Team will be provided as needed. Be sure to indicate if your child will need a transfer to J-Team on the registration form.
STUDENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO WALK THEMSELVES TO J-TEAM or to the LJCC.
Students are encouraged to bring a nut-free, kosher snack and water bottle.
Registration and payment will take place on the CJDS website.
CJDS reserves the right to cancel any club for lack of interest and a refund will be issued. In the event that a class is canceled due to inclement weather or instructor illness, every attempt will be made to provide a make-up class, but this cannot be guaranteed.
Elementary School Clubs
Description: Noah's Art is excited to bring our creative classes to Charlotte Jewish Day School. We will be working with different mediums like clay, paint, oil pastel, water colors and more. Growing each child’s art skills, helps with fine motor, sensory integration, attention span and self expression. Your child will be creating one masterpiece per class to take home that day. Curriculums that we will be teaching are: Young Picasso, Clay Creations, 3D Art, Art Around the World, and Mixed Media.

Description: Welcome to our kids camera club - a fun and creative space where students can explore the art of photography through hands-on activities, exciting challenges, and playful experiments. No experience needed- just bring your imagination and a love for capturing the world around you! Students will learn and practice using digital cameras and will get to see and keep their digital pictures! All supplies and materials included.

Yoga with Ms. Jadyn (Grades K-2)
Description: Help your child unwind & recharge from their school day with yoga! Children will enjoy an hour-long class of yoga postures & breathing exercises to help him/her to develop a more organized tool box for finding calm and patience and to aid in coping with their emotions internally, at home & at school. Children will need to bring their own yoga mat.

Description: : The purpose of the gardening club is to introduce gardening, conservation, protection of wildlife, recognition of plants, trees and shrubs, and a love and appreciation of nature. The goal is that they will be future citizens who will be responsible and capable with greater self-expression, dignity, integrity, and knowledge of their environment.

Middle School Clubs
Science & Innovation Club
Objective:
To provide students with a dedicated space to explore their interests in science, technology, engineering, and creative problem-solving through self-directed projects.
Overview:
This club builds on our advisory time and offers students the opportunity to dive deeper into niche science and technology projects of their choosing. By fostering curiosity and hands-on learning, the Science & Innovation Club empowers students to develop their skills, collaborate with peers, and showcase their creativity.
Club Activities:
- Self-Directed Projects: Students will choose their own focus areas, such as robotics, gardening, 3D printing, podcasting, coding, environmental science, or other STEM-related pursuits.
- Collaborative Innovation: Students will have opportunities to work individually or in teams, encouraging peer mentorship and collaborative problem-solving.
- Access to Resources: Club members will use available tools, including the 3D printer, garden space, and technology for podcast creation or coding projects.
- Showcase Opportunities: At the end of each semester, students will present their projects to the school community, fostering pride in their achievements and inspiring others to innovate.
Expected Outcomes:
- Encourage creativity, critical thinking, and innovation.
- Provide students with real-world problem-solving experience.
- Promote cross-disciplinary skills in STEM, communication, and project management.
Logistics:
- Club Members: Open to all middle school students with a passion for science, technology, and creativity.
- Supervision: A faculty advisor will provide guidance and facilitate access to tools and materials.

Junior Mentors at Charlotte Jewish Preschool
Objective:
To foster leadership, responsibility, and community engagement among middle school students by pairing them with the 4-year-old classroom at Charlotte Jewish Preschool.
Overview:
This club will allow middle school students to take on a mentorship and leadership role by assisting teachers, interacting with preschoolers, and helping to create a nurturing educational environment.
Club Activities:
- Weekly Visits: Students will visit the preschool once a week to assist in the 4-year-old classroom.
- Lesson Planning: Club members will collaboratively design and prepare age-appropriate activities to engage preschoolers.
- Reading and Mentorship: Students will read stories, guide small group activities, and model positive behavior for the younger children.
- Leadership Development: Through hands-on experience, students will develop skills in teaching, patience, teamwork, and responsibility.
Expected Outcomes:
- Strengthen the bond between the middle school and preschool communities.
- Enhance middle school students' leadership and communication skills.
- Provide preschoolers with additional positive role models and learning opportunities.
Logistics:
- Club members: Open to middle school students interested in teaching, mentoring, or community service.
- Frequency: Fridays from 3:30-4:30
- Supervision: A faculty advisor will accompany the group to provide support and ensure a smooth experience.
- I have already discussed this with Erin G at the Preschool and she is excited for the opportunity.
